Today I will talk about a procedure that has become very popular in recent years: buccal fat removal. This procedure involves removing the buccal fat pads, which are small pockets of fat in the cheeks. The goal is to slightly enhance the cheekbone area by removing some volume from the lower part of the cheeks. How do you know if you are a candidate for this procedure? It depends on your age, the position of the fat pads, and the shape of your face. The procedure is done through small incisions inside the mouth, about one centimeter long, where the buccal fat pads are removed, and the incision is closed with a tiny, usually absorbable suture. As for the recovery, it doesn't usually require time off work, but if your job involves physical effort, you might need about a week off.
